Heat on the Move

Class 7 Science: heat (conduction, convection and radiation)

Heat a metal rod and watch wax pins drop, see warm water rise in a beaker, and find out which shirt the Sun heats faster.

Words to know

Conduction
Heat passing through a solid from the hotter part to the colder part.
Convection
Heat carried by a moving liquid or gas: warm parts rise and cool parts sink.
Radiation
Heat that travels without any material, like heat from the Sun.
Conductor
A material that lets heat pass easily, like copper and steel.
Insulator
A material that does not let heat pass easily, like wood and plastic.
