Convex Lens Images
Class 10 Science: light, reflection and refraction (images by a convex lens)
Slide a candle towards a convex lens and watch the image grow, flip and finally turn into a magnifying-glass image.
Words to know
- Convex lens
- A lens that is thicker in the middle. It bends light rays towards each other.
- Focus (F)
- The point where rays parallel to the axis meet after passing through the lens.
- Focal length
- The distance from the centre of the lens to its focus.
- Real image
- An image that can be caught on a screen. A convex lens makes it upside down.
- Virtual image
- An image that cannot be caught on a screen; the rays only seem to come from it.
