Build an Atom
Class 9 Science: structure of the atom (electron shells)
Add protons, neutrons and electrons. See which element you made, its charge and how its electrons fill the shells.
Words to know
- Proton
- A positive particle in the nucleus. Its number names the element.
- Neutron
- A particle with no charge in the nucleus.
- Electron
- A tiny negative particle that moves in shells around the nucleus.
- Isotopes
- Atoms of the same element with different numbers of neutrons.
- Ion
- An atom that has lost or gained electrons, so it has a charge.
